Biomechanics & Orthotics

image0 (5).jpeg

Biomechanics is the study of how the body moves, applying principles of mechanical science to the human musculoskeletal system—particularly during walking, running, and other forms of movement.

At Swansea Podiatry, we carry out detailed biomechanical assessments to identify the underlying causes of pain, discomfort, or abnormal movement patterns. Our goal is to pinpoint the root of the problem and develop a tailored treatment plan to help restore healthy, pain-free movement.

Common issues related to biomechanical problems include:

  • Heel pain

  • Plantar fasciitis

  • Foot and ankle injuries

  • Shin splints

  • Tendinopathies

  • Sprains and strains

  • Flat feet

  • Limb length discrepancies

  • Neuromas

Following your assessment, we’ll provide expert advice on appropriate footwear and may recommend off-the-shelf insoles or, if necessary, prescribe custom-made orthotics designed specifically for your needs.
